2 Peter 1:3 (ICB):
“Jesus has the power of God. His power has given us everything we need to live and to serve God. We have these things because we know him. Jesus called us by his glory and goodness.”
I find myself stuck here. This often happens when I’m reading the Bible—something strikes me so deeply that I can’t continue until I’ve processed everything it stirs within me.
We all want to serve God—at least, I know I do. In whatever capacity He calls us, but mostly for me, it’s behind the scenes (Lol, I am a very shy person). Today’s Word reminds us that we already have everything we need to live and to serve God.
That got me thinking—what do I truly need to live? I need food, water, clothing, shelter, and love. I need a job, and for that, I need transport. I need airtime to stay connected. I need peace in my life, school fees for my child, and something extra to let her enjoy herself occasionally. I need school fees for myself too.
These are some of my needs, but what are yours? Take a moment to list them because here’s the beauty of this verse: God’s power ensures that all our needs are met so that we may serve Him wholeheartedly. His power has already provided for everything we need to live and to serve Him without fear, without wondering where or how those needs will be met.
This truth is so powerful. When you are born again, Christ lives in you. This verse says that Christ has the power of God, and it is His power that equips us with everything we need to live and to serve.
How do you serve God? Through the gifts He has given you. How do you know your God-given gifts? You seek the Lord, and He will reveal them to you. He reveals them by drawing you toward things that come naturally—things that feel second nature. You’ll know when you do something and feel like you’ve been doing it all along. There’s a peace and calmness that comes when you operate in your gifting.
For me, my gift is in Graceful. I find so much joy and peace in everything I do there. It feels like I’m walking in the purpose God has given me.
But let’s continue with the verse—it says we have these things because we know Him. So, how do you know Jesus? You begin by building a relationship with Him. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Communicate with Him through prayer and reading His Word. As Matthew 6:33 says: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
This is the order Jesus gave us. When we seek Him first, everything we need is added to us. And when those things are in place, we can serve God as we are—without reserve.
I pray for this grace over your life—the grace of having everything you need to live and to serve God fully. May you walk in the confidence that His power is sufficient for all your needs.
To God be all the glory today and forever. Have a beautiful day. 🖤
