I Don’t Have to Earn Rest

14 December 20258 June 2025

Rest is not a reward. It’s not something you buy with productivity, or guilt your way into after crossing off enough tasks. Rest is a biological need—just like food, air, and water. You don’t have to earn it. You just deserve it.

The world often tells us that unless we’re constantly doing, we’re failing. But constant doing burns us out. It numbs us. It disconnects us from what matters. Your body was never designed to go non-stop. Naturalism shows us this clearly: every living thing in nature has rhythms. The sun rises and sets. Animals sleep. Trees slow down in winter. You are no different.

When you rest, you’re not being lazy. You’re being alive.
When you rest, you’re not giving up. You’re replenishing.
When you rest, you’re choosing to honour the truth that your worth isn’t measured by output—it’s already there, because you are.

Say this to yourself today:
“I don’t have to do more to deserve rest. My need for rest is valid. I give myself permission to pause.”

Let yourself breathe. Let yourself soften. You don’t need a reason to rest. You just need to listen to your body—and say yes.
