1 Peter 5:8 NIV “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
The real enemy in our lives is the devil. It’s not your colleague who seems to be against you, your employer, your maid or nanny, your HR manager, your husband or wife, or even your parents. The Bible clearly tells us that our enemy is the devil, and he is always trying to cause trouble.
The devil can use people to create problems, but that doesn’t mean those people are bad. Often, they don’t even realise they’re being used. The devil is the one who wants to create conflict and chaos in our lives. That’s why we need to stay alert and keep a clear mind, understanding that there is often a spiritual battle happening behind the scenes.
When we face challenges, it helps to remember that our struggle isn’t against the people around us. As Ephesians 6:12 says, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
By being aware of this, we can stop seeing others as our enemies and instead recognise that we are fighting against spiritual forces trying to bring us down. Let’s focus on supporting and loving one another, knowing that our true battle is against the darkness that seeks to harm us.
